Mykolaiv (Nikolaev in Russian), also known as Nikolaev Airport (IATA: NLV, ICAO: UKON), is a city and municipality in Southern Ukraine, the administrative center of the Mykolaiv Oblast. The city is located on the banks of the Southern Bug River and is close to the Black Sea. The city has a population of approximately 500,000, and is known for its rich cultural and architectural heritage, with numerous historical sites and monuments located in the city. Mykolaiv is also a major port city and industrial hub, with a large fishing industry, major shipbuilding and repair facilities, and other industries such as metalworking and food processing.
