Hami (Kumul) is a prefecture-level city located in the east of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in Northwestern China. It is bordered by the Altay Mountains to the north, the Gobi desert to the south, and the Taklamakan desert to the west. Hami is known for its unique culture, beautiful landscape, and diverse ethnic groups. It is home to the Uyghur, Kazakh, Mongolian, and Hui ethnic minorities. The city is also known for its rich history, and was once the seat of the Kumul Khanate, an important center on the ancient Silk Road. The city’s main attractions include its historic buildings, such as the remains of the Great Wall of China, the thousand-year-old Suoyang Mosque, and the Wuzhun Mosque. Hami is also home to the world’s largest sand dune, the Shapatou Dune.
