The city of El Kharga is located in the New Valley Governorate of Egypt, near the border with Libya. It is the capital of the Kharga Oasis and is home to a population of around 75,000 people. The city is known for its many monuments and archaeological sites, including the Temple of Hibis and the Roman fort of Qasr el-Ghueita. El Kharga is also home to a number of ancient tombs, including the Tomb of Nakhtefmut and the Tomb of Amenemhat.
